What is the most aggressive form of lung cancer?
As of my last update in 2023, small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is considered one of the most aggressive forms of lung cancer. It is characterized by its rapid growth and tendency to spread quickly (metastasize) to other parts of the body, often making it more challenging to treat effectively compared to other types of lung cancer, such as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Early detection of SCLC is crucial, but unfortunately, by the time symptoms appear and it is diagnosed, it often has already advanced. Treatment usually involves a combination of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and sometimes surgery, depending on the stage and specific characteristics of the cancer.
