Why Go Private?

Why go private?

You might have had a routine scan where something was found by accident, or you have been suffering from medical problems for a while, or perhaps something just came out of the blue. Whatever your circumstances are, you are most likely worried now. You sought help from your trusted GP and might have already seen that lovely doctor in the NHS. Then everything stopped; you were told you needed some investigations, but nobody called you yet.

So you think: should I go private?

The first thing I want to say about myself is that I also work for the NHS in one of the largest hospital groups in the country, and I follow all the latest NHS guidelines for treating my patients.  So, it is not about getting a different or perceived better doctor.  Secondly, the waiting list issue is real.  Quite often, you do have to wait a long time before being seen by the NHS; a consultant might not see you, and it is usually never the same person. Unfortunately, the volume of patients is such that it is almost impossible to give that personalised and unique service we would all want.

Lastly, having a scan on the NHS takes quite a bit of time; privately, it can be done immediately after your consultation.

Why go private?
Here are the top 10 patients’ benefits when going private:
  1. Quick response to your enquiry – our clinic is committed to responding to enquiries the same day, even at weekend.
  2. Rapid initial assessment and quick access to treatment, usually within a week.
  3. Consultant-led service, you will never say a physician assistant. You will always see me; there is no need to explain your history over and over again each time to a different doctor or healthcare professional.
  4. You have the choice of appointment times, either face-to-face appointments or via remote access. The appointments won’t be rearranged at the last minute, and they will fit around your commitments.
  5. All services under one roof: you will have access to an integrated service by doctors who all work together in the same practice, allowing for a seamless service across different treatment streams.
  6. You will be offered a treatment package immediately, with no waiting times to access the necessary care. This translates into less time spent worrying. After your care takes place, you have a direct line to me for every concern until you are discharged.
  7. There is no pre-determined limit on the number of appointments you can have. You will have as many as necessary with me (unlike the NHS, where people are discharged quickly from services).
  8. I work at most of the leading private hospitals in London, where you will find a very welcoming waiting area with tea and coffee, a private space that is not overcrowded and not intimidating. The nurses are very polite and charming.
  9. There is no time limit for a consultation, unlike in the NHS. If you need an hour or more, you will get it. After all, care starts with putting you at ease and reassuring you.
  10. Private care is much more affordable than you think, and if you have private medical insurance, that will almost certainly cover the cost of your treatment in full.
