Before Your Consultation · Preparation Guide
Everything you need to know before your appointment.
What to bring, what to expect, how long it takes, where to park. Use the interactive checklist to tick off each item before your appointment day.
What to bring to your appointment
If your CT is on a hospital system, ask for a copy on disc before your appointment. Email a shareable link to [email protected] in advance if possible.
Whole-body PET scan results are essential for lung cancer staging — bring the written report and images if available.
Particularly important for lung cancer surgery assessment.
Include the full pathology report, not just the summary letter.
Not required to attend privately, but bring it if you have one. Some insurers require it for reimbursement.
Include blood thinners (warfarin, rivaroxaban, apixaban, aspirin), as these affect surgery planning.
Namita will have verified your coverage in advance, but bring your membership details as a backup.
Write them down beforehand. It’s easy to forget under the stress of a medical appointment.
Family members or a friend are welcome to attend consultations.
💡 Send imaging in advance — it makes a real difference. If you email your CT scan or share a digital link before your appointment, Mr Scarci reviews it beforehand. You arrive at an appointment where the clinical picture is already understood — not one where the surgeon is opening your file for the first time. Email: [email protected]
What your consultation looks like
Arrival and check-in
Arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time. Check in at the hospital reception and you will be directed to the outpatient consulting area. For Imperial Private Healthcare specifically — Private Patients is on the 2nd floor of the Sainsbury Wing; follow signs on arrival.
The consultation itself
Mr Scarci will take a full clinical history, review your imaging with you on screen, examine you if relevant, and discuss all treatment options in detail. You are encouraged to ask every question you have — there is no rush. Family members are welcome to be present.
Discussion of options and your questions
All treatment options — surgical and non-surgical — are explained. Risks, benefits, recovery expectations, and timing are covered. This is also the time to discuss preferences about hospital location, timing around work or family commitments, and concerns about the procedure.
Written plan and next steps
You leave with a clear plan — whether that is a date for surgery, a referral for additional tests, a second opinion being sought, or watchful waiting. A written summary is sent to you and to your GP. If surgery is recommended, Namita will begin coordinating the pre-operative pathway before you leave.
ℹ️ How long will you be at the hospital? Allow 60–90 minutes for your first consultation, including arrival, the appointment, and any brief administrative steps afterwards. Follow-up appointments are typically 30–45 minutes.
