The people who will look after you — from first call to full recovery.
Surgery is one moment in your care. The team around it — secretarial, clinical, physiotherapy, nutrition, and psychology — determines whether the experience feels supported or fragmented. This is who you will meet.
When you contact this practice, you are not dealing with a faceless admin system. Every person listed here is a named individual who is specifically chosen for their expertise and their approach to patient care. We believe that the quality of support around a surgical episode matters as much as the surgery itself.

Mr Scarci leads all clinical care within this practice. He performs every surgical procedure personally — there is no delegation to a registrar on the day of your operation. He reviews all pre-operative imaging before your consultation, conducts the consultation himself, explains findings and options directly, calls you personally with biopsy results, and remains accessible between appointments for clinical questions.
Trained in Italy, Malta, London (Guy’s and St Thomas’), and Toronto, Mr Scarci has been a consultant thoracic surgeon since 2011 — at Papworth Hospital, UCLH, San Gerardo Hospital in Milan (as Director of Thoracic Surgery), and currently at Imperial College NHS Healthcare. He has authored more than 170 peer-reviewed publications and four surgical textbooks, and holds fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the European Board of Thoracic Surgery.
From your first phone call to your final follow-up — these are the people you will work with.

A highly trained thoracic surgery registrar with extensive experience in cardiothoracic procedures and perioperative patient management. He brings specialist expertise in lung resections, mediastinal tumours, pleural diseases, and trauma-related chest injuries — working closely with Mr Scarci throughout the surgical pathway.

Namita brings two decades of experience in private healthcare in central London, and is the primary point of contact for patients from first enquiry through to post-operative follow-up. She manages appointments, insurance pre-authorisation, and the administrative pathway that makes a complex surgical episode feel streamlined.

Emily leads Air Physiotherapy, established in 2018 after a decade at the Royal Brompton Hospital. She specialises exclusively in respiratory conditions — spanning pre-operative optimisation and post-operative rehabilitation for thoracic surgery patients.

Raquel is a highly experienced registered dietitian with a decade of specialist focus on cancer and surgical nutrition. Nutritional optimisation before and after surgery makes a measurable difference to wound healing, immune function, respiratory muscle recovery, and overall stamina.

Joanna is a London-based Health Psychologist and founder of the Health Psychology Clinic on Harley Street. She works with patients managing chronic pain, health anxiety, and adjustment to diagnoses — helping thoracic surgery patients engage fully with treatment and recovery.
Coordinated care — not fragmented referrals
Each member of this team knows your case. Communication happens between specialists so you do not have to relay your history repeatedly.
Namita coordinates your initial consultation, gathers any existing scan results in advance, and ensures Mr Scarci has reviewed your case before you arrive. You speak to a named person who understands the clinical context of your enquiry from the first call.
You leave with a clear diagnosis, a treatment plan, and answers to your questions. Not a letter saying someone will be in touch. If further investigations are needed, they are arranged before you leave the building.
Where indicated, Emily coordinates respiratory physiotherapy to optimise your lung function before surgery. Raquel advises on nutritional preparation. Joanna is available if anxiety or psychological factors are affecting your readiness for the procedure.
Mr Shaarawy provides consistent clinical support throughout. The anaesthetic and theatre teams at your chosen hospital are briefed in advance on your specific case. There is no delegation to a registrar on the day.
Post-operative review is scheduled before you leave hospital. Namita coordinates any further follow-up appointments. You are never left waiting without knowing who to contact.
Emily’s physiotherapy team supports respiratory rehabilitation. Raquel advises on post-operative nutrition. Questions between appointments reach Mr Scarci directly. No patient is left managing their recovery alone.
Whether your question is clinical, administrative, or financial — there is a named person in this practice whose job it is to answer it.
